Comet Donati (C1858 L1)

A brilliant comet discovered by G. B. Donati of Florence in 1858. Contemporary drawings show it with a broad, curved dust tail and two narrow, straight ion tails. The head regularly threw off fountain-like envelopes over a period of several weeks.
